“I then proceeded to the grounds of Perano’s jewel – the Vestris estate. I was greeted by the head of the family, Madeleine Vestris, a surprisingly spry woman for her great age. She was happy to give me an extensive tour of the grounds, pointing out such areas of historic significance as the spot where Esharia’s bioship was grown.

Although it was quite something to see, the bioship’s location did not make such an impression upon my heart as the last point in our tour. Madeleine led me to a secluded spot, shaded by towering oaks and bathed in autumn light. She then directed my attention to a tomb, carved of white marble, seemingly untouched by nature, time, or decay.
It is here, she told me, that two very dear relatives of hers are buried. The tomb was first home to Sofia Vestris, who died tragically young. She was later joined by her widow, Vittoria Vestris.

Madeleine recounted to me the very peculiar story of the burial. As the late Vittoria was lowered into the tomb, Sofia’s bones seemed to crumble before her very eyes. Nevertheless, as the body settled into place, its arms almost seemed to fall across its companion in embrace. There were few dry eyes as the two lovers reunited. Madeleine reported, with not a little sadness, that she felt she had never seen Vittoria’s face look so at peace.”\\
